If like me your use all the T-Bird forums you may have seen this.

Learning things the hard way sucks! Instead of writing it all, ill post all the Instagram / tick toc links. In short, a few stupid user mistakes = more$$ spent, + new skills learned and some old ones refined.

Painting errors lead to total stripping, tank fall, creative dent repair, relearning and honing my body filler skills, back to full repaint. Still more to go.

Not being a user of those platforms I can't access them.

I do see a lot of "orange peel' in the finish of the tank so it will require a wet sand and buff to get a nice flat glossy appearance. Good luck with the project.

Bummer! But.... you'll like it better when you're done.
That is a very big and very thin metal tank.

I still can't get over the idea of putting a door - on the BOTTOM.
Why that hasn't been a problem is equally mystifying.

Speaking of paint, early TBirds were known for "soft" paint (easy to scratch). And I noticed my black paint has a brown tint...maybe change the color to Midnight black!

Mmmm.... chrome....
Factory paint was acrylic lacquer, nothing "soft" about it. With a few clear coats it really shines. Still the best finish there is, IMHO.
Pics are posted on Instagram, including clear coat, looks good and probably all done by now. Hope he posts a pic here.
Dent was the setback, paint isn't a problem.

I have also decided that I'm going with metallic copper on the BRG and bordered with black.

"Dent was the setback," Damn right it was!

I mentioned that the first clear was for mainly sanding and laying the scallops and stripes down, I also had a lot of dust in the garage.
I wish I knew someone with a handy paint booth. So the plan is to let all the dust settle. I need the temp to get back to at least 38 - 40 degrees F. so my heaters can bounce it up 15 degrees.

OK for some reason the site is not letting me upoad new pictures???

How's it coming? British racing green, yes?
BTW, if you want to post pics, put 'em in your album first, then add pics from album to your post - last I checked, adding pics directly to a post wasn't working.... let's see.....

Nope, still no go. Add pic from album.

Please share how to add pics, I am also facing the same issue.
Also, can you please share this paint code? It looks incredible and I am looking for a wrap for my bike.
BTW, you can also check the Viking Bags Link for any bags you need

I usually start by putting a copy of pic on desktop, then login to site and go to my (photos) album (mine = M, pg22).
Use [Upload New Photo] button, select pic on desktop and upload.
Control+click (Mac) or right-click (PC) image and choose "Copy image address."
Go back to thread post and paste. Preview button should show pic on your post.

Some spammer messed up site's thumbnail function awhile back, preventing the direct way to upload....

004225 is what I get for British Racing Green from Google.
